Why is Nodava digging on Sollerön?

As you have probably noticed, "guys in yellow overalls" are digging in several places on Sollerön. It is Nodava that has begun work to repair and improve the municipal sewage system.

“The sewage system is not undersized but properly sized,” says project manager Anders Blomkvist from Nodava. “The problem is that it is old. Cracks and joints have formed that need to be sealed. Large amounts of rainwater flow into the pipes, which creates problems in the treatment plant. In addition, it costs a lot to treat water that does not need to come to the treatment plant at all.

Unfortunately, it is not only the municipal pipe network that is deficient, but also service pipes inside properties. Connected downpipes and drainage also contribute to the problems.

Property owners may be contacted for further action at a later stage.

When will it be ready?

The investigation is ongoing and the scope is still unclear, so it is impossible to say how long the work will continue.

The plan is that in the long term the treatment plant in Mora will be expanded. The idea is that all wastewater from Sollerön will be pumped there. With too much rainwater in the sewage system, it will be difficult to implement this,” concludes Anders Blomkvist.
