Sollerö Fiskevårdsområde's association FVOF had an Open House in Gåstjärn when September turned into October. It was a "note on the door" on Saturday (30/9). "We usually say that there are a lot of people when there are 30 people here fishing. Now there were over 90!" exclaims Kenneth Eriksson.
“Classes 3, 4, 5 and 6 from Sollerö School were here earlier and caught a lot of fish, which was good advertising for Open House.”
The sun was at its best and a light breeze kept the mosquitoes away.
The cars were parked in a row on the side of the road.
Around the pond were expectant fishermen of all ages. Those who weren't holding a fishing rod were grilling sausages and hamburgers on the crackling grill, and inside the overnight cabin, the large coffee pot was simmering with coffee.
Kenneth says that September has been a fully booked month at Gåstjärn. “It has actually been difficult to find openings to fill up with fish. There is a lot of interest from companies for events with customers and staff. And many private individuals celebrate parties here with family, relatives and friends. Fishing is a good activity to gather around. You get both excitement and relaxation,” says a happy Kenneth Eriksson who, together with his colleagues Ove, Bert, Hasse and others in FVOF, looks after and cares for Gåstjärn.
