Now the church boat Sofia Magdalena will be allowed to rest next to the Church.
Mora Municipality has proposed that Sollerö Parish Association receive 310,000 kronor for a “Communication hub with church boat” in Sollerö city center. This is a substantial portion of the so-called local government funds of 600,000 kronor that are available to the entire municipality. Many thanks to Mora Municipality for prioritizing it. The formal decision will be made by the County Administrative Board within a few weeks.
The church boat will be placed under cover on the grassy area between the Church and the Parish House near the thoroughfare and the bus stop. The idea is that the area will develop into a natural and attractive meeting place for both parishioners and visitors. The church boat will be an interesting eye-catcher, well visible to road users both from the south and from Mora. Information and directions will be available about services and attractions, easily accessible and interesting. It is close to shops, restaurants and tourist information. The parish, the church, Jugen Jon, church boat rowing, boat building, Klikten, the Vikings, etc. will be exposed. The parish association is responsible for the site in close collaboration with the Church and Mora municipality. The church boat is loaned by Sollerö Sports Association with a long-term agreement.
