240 years since the first sermon in Sollerö Church
We have just had a Church Election. In the second half of the 18th century, there was also a Church Election on Sollerön. They chose to build their own church. On September 8, 1781, the last service was held in the old St. Laurentius Chapel at Klikten. The following Sunday, September 15, 1781, the first service was held in the new church, then with temporary furnishings. Proper benches with low backs and side doors were only ready after 5 years.
The pastor's assistant Anders Sundstedt conducted the service and preached from 1 Samuel 7:12.
"So far the Lord has helped us." (Thus far the Lord has helped us)
