There is a lot of activity at Hembygdsgården when Solleröbladet pays a visit. There is a good smell of tarred logs, which are being placed in a frame around gravel and a base plate. “The frame of logs will be about 70 cm high,” says Torbjörn Karlsson, who, together with Kenneth Broqvist and Lars Hansson, is arranging the logs. The frame around the kiln is now complete and work on the kiln itself can begin. However, there is still a lot to do before the blast furnace can be put into use.
“The end product will be bog ore. What the Vikings produced and what was also produced up in Lima during the 19th century. The iron is well suited for forging scythes,” says Lars Hansson. It will be exciting to see the guys produce iron in the same way as in the Viking era. “Sometime this fall,” the guys say hopefully.
