It is an impressive sight to see a church boat gliding along the mirror-like waters of Lake Siljan.
When the boat is filled with schoolchildren rowing, it almost brings a tear to the eye. Because it is that generation that will carry on the tradition.
Sollerö school had chosen Lerön and rowing for its sports day. The rowing club organised the Sollerö Rowing Challenge in the form of a 4-station system. 65 children in years 4, 5 and 6 took turns to learn both theoretical and practical rowing skills. The pupils got to try out rowing machines, single and double scullers and the new Olympic class Coastel. And of course, church boat rowing!
The event ended with a relay race on the rowing machines where the winners received great prizes from Tomteland and other sponsors.
