What did Herman Lindkvist say about Vasa?

The Lärkasalen was almost full when Herman Lindkvist visited Sollerön. The expectant audience heard truths and untruths about Gustaf Vasa. The king who united Sweden into one kingdom 500 years ago.

It is proven that he was on an adventurous journey in Dalarna, but the adventure anecdotes are quite certainly fabricated by the king himself, according to Herman Lindkvist. Gustaf was good at making propaganda for himself.

For example, he did not ski but sled from Mora to Sälen. He had difficulty making himself understood with his Uppland dialect when he spoke on the church hill in Mora just before Christmas 1520. The Swedish language first made its entrance with Gustaf Vasa's Bible in 1541. The valley lords were not very interested in the young man (24 years old) from Stockholm. When they then heard that they would hand in their weapons to King Christian II and that taxes would be increased, they brought Gustaf back and so the revolt began.

Herman talked for over an hour about the Vasa King. After the lecture, many questions came from the audience.

The book about Gustaf Vasa is Herman Lindkvist's 69th book.
