Sign shows the way to the Bird Paradise!

Many have probably seen the sign along Sundsvägen that shows the direction to the Bird Tower in Nörderviken. So far, only the howling of the wind and the occasional raven can be heard across the ice-covered bay, but soon the reed beds and water mirrors will be teeming with life.

Many bird species stop over on their way to breeding grounds further north. Many stay in Nörderviken and breed. The area is not only a paradise for birds but also a strong magnet for ornithologists from near and far.

We read this week that the first crane had landed at Lake Hornborga in Västergötland, but it will still be a while before we hear the powerful and graceful bird's trumpeting echo over Sollerön.

The first migratory bird here is the starling, followed by the lapwing. And then the “music of spring” begins. In mid-April, the trill of Sollerön’s “national bird”, the great lapwing, can be heard over the meadows.

Take the opportunity to discover nature up close. Remember the binoculars.

A visit to Nördervik provides stimulation and peace for body and soul. Nature offers “yoga and meditation.”
