Co-growing vegetables on Sollerön!

by | June 30, 2021 | Current, Enterprising, Glimpses from the parish

It was Sollerö school and preschool with staff, who in the 1990s started gardens for the school kitchen. Marianne Louko was one of those who wanted to offer the children non-toxic school lunches. The schoolchildren actively participated in both sowing, care and harvesting. Unfortunately, the staff could not afford to run their own gardens due to savings, which is why it stopped in 2015. After the gardens along Bråmåbovägen lay fallow for a few years, they are now up and running again. Now there are 22 families in the Samodlingsgruppen who have taken over the baton and are passionate about locally grown vegetables. Lennart Bälter leases the land and Mathias Håll cultivates and fertilizes. Among other things, potatoes, carrots, parsnips and Sollerö turnips have been planted.
