The headline is a bit misleading. Sitting in the boat and rowing is still just as tough on the back, arms, lungs and legs. What will now be more comfortable is that there will soon be changing rooms, showers and toilets next to the boathouses on Lerön.
On July 2, the new building was inaugurated in front of a wide audience with a large youthful element.
Sollerö IF Rowing Section offered a pleasant setting with a tip walk, competitions and rowing history. The Swedish Rowing Association courted and several interviews were made from the stage. Altmeister Lennart Bälter said that competitive rowing started in the late 1950s with Karl Lindgren as the initiator. Impressive and remarkable is that the club has raised no fewer than 6 Olympic rowers. From 1972 in Munich until 2018 in the Youth Olympics in Argentina.
In addition to changing rooms, showers and toilets, the new building includes a kitchen with a meeting room that is perfect for club meetings. And a magnificent view of the archipelago.
