New baptismal font in Gesunda Prayer House

There was a formal board meeting in Gesunda the other evening.

“I am overwhelmed,” says chairwoman Anneli Andersson, and is supported by her board colleagues. In connection with the board meeting, Gesunda resident Tommy Solin presented a special gift to the Prayer House.

“I found a knot in Rossberg and it has become a baptismal font,” says Tommy Solin. “The wood is birch. After using the chainsaw to free the knot from the tree trunk, I worked with a chisel and sandpaper. It probably took about 16 – 20 hours,” continues Tommy, who finished the masterpiece by oiling the baptismal font with paraffin oil.

“We are very happy and grateful,” says Anneli. “The baptismal font really adorns its place in our beautiful Prayer House. Now it will be exciting to see which child will be the first to be baptized in the new baptismal font. I know that several children have been born this summer in the parish.”

It is undeniably a solid piece of craftsmanship that Tommy Solin has created. The baptismal font blends beautifully into the unique interior of the Prayer House. Gesunda Prayer House is a very peaceful and atmospheric room for baptisms, weddings and farewells. Everyone is welcome.
