"A lot of workshop and a little talk" in Gesunda!

by | Jan 7, 2025 | Current

It's important not to talk too much but to make things happen. That's exactly what Gesunda Village Cottage Association has practiced in recent years. A great commitment from the residents of Gesunda has meant positive development and many improvements – and not least well-being and community – for the village.

When the Village Hall Association gathered in the Village Hall on one of the first days of the new year, a full 60 people showed up. Non-profit forces (=enthusiasts) and contributions from companies and craftsmen have made it possible to renovate apartments, build a fence, paint the Prayer House and Threshing Floor, get the Bell Tower to ring, prepare parking spaces, build toilets and showers in the Village Hall and much more. Many of the measures generate income that is needed to operate the properties.

Three things stand out a bit.

  • The broad commitment to successfully getting Gesundaberget up and running. Now the lights are on the hill again.
  • The award to Stig Wass as "Rural Developer of the Year in Sweden 2024" and
  • the cultural heritage grant to the House of Prayer from the king himself.
