The church boat Sofia Magdalena docks at Sollerö Church!

A strong trademark for Sollerön are the church boats whose bows have cut the waves of Siljan for generations. All of Siljan's church boats are built here on Sollerön. Before Sollerön was its own parish with its own church, the church boats were rowed to high mass in Mora Church.

One of Sollerö IF's church boats – Sofia Magalena – has been taken out of use due to drying out and will now be used to honor and highlight the art of boat building that has been practiced in recent years by Arne Håll in Kulåra.

Sofia Magdalena will be an eye-catcher that will adorn Kyrkbacken. (Båkkan)

A covered parking space has been approved and has received a building permit.

It has been a long journey to get all the paperwork in place, but now the project is taking off.

During October-November, Sollerö Timmer (Duhlbo) will begin ground work for casting 18 plinths for the post structure. The construction site will then be fenced off to avoid accidents since the bus stop is nearby. During the winter, the structural timber will be finely sawn and prepared for the timbering. Bälter Timmer will then timber the roof structure during winter/spring 2025 and assemble it in place before midsummer. Then Sofia Magdalena will be transported with pomp and show to her new “boathouse.” Information about the unique craftsmanship will be available in the annex.
