With their historical origins, they can be seen around farmhouses and country estates. They are beautifully built according to old craft traditions.
Now a fenced yard is growing around Brändan at Gesunda Bönhus and Bystuga. Three evenings in a row a fenced yard course has been arranged with Simon Ljunggren and Martin Ljunggren as instructors. Mora Municipality's cultural department and Återbruket Klippen are sponsoring it and 15 – 20 enthusiastic villagers, Sollerö residents and nearby municipalities have participated voluntarily every evening.
Last fall, several forest owners in the village donated fence posts. The posts were then transported to the Village Cabin where they have been stored over the winter. Now it was time to sharpen and burn the vertical posts at ground level so that they can withstand moisture and snow better. Spruce branches are pruned and boiled into wicks. Holes are made in the ground for the vertical posts and the posts are laid horizontally at an angle and the wicks are tied so that the fence is stable. It is very interesting to see all the work involved.
Three evenings will get you far, but there is still a long way to go before the entire Brändan is framed. The enclosure has two purposes. It is very beautiful and fits into the environment, while at the same time providing security from the busy thoroughfare.
