It is a very happy Stig Wass who answers when we call and congratulates us on the award.
“Rural Developer of the Year” in Sweden. “I’ve received over 200 text messages from friends all over the country,” exclaims Stig.
Stig was of course a little nervous before he went into the Nyhetsmorgon studio, but TV4's handling of the show was very professional. "Before the broadcast, I ended up in the "Green Room" together with my winning colleague Victoria from Skaftö and Lieutenant Colonel Joakim Paasikivi. You know the one who is a military expert and comments on the war in Ukraine.
Paasikivi was interviewed first before it was time for us – “Vickan and Stickan!” – to settle down on the couch. I kept calm and focused on getting my message across, but you should know that it is stressful for the producer and the presenters are counting seconds for the different segments. I also managed to mention Sollerön and the investment in Gesundaberget, which feels good.
After the appearance on TV4, Stig went to Arlanda where an award ceremony and lunch awaited with the organization “Hela Sverige ska Leva.” The press was also there and we can already read about Stig’s enthusiastic efforts in the newspaper Land. Rural issues are becoming increasingly important, so the award has received great publicity.
The prize is the honor and a check for 5,000 SEK. “I am donating it to Gesunda Exercise Club for the renovation of the ice hockey rink in Gesunda. It is important that children learn to skate and that families can spend time together not only on snow but also on ice,” says Stig, who is looking forward to the inauguration of Gesundabergets slopes and inn on December 21, when he will be there. “Now it is important that we continue to develop Sollerö parish. We do not have large industries or factories, but we have nature that attracts tourists. If we can get visitors to stay an extra night, jobs will be generated, primarily for young people. And they are the future of the parish,” concludes Stig, who is an incredibly important ambassador for our region.
