There was anticipation in the air. Activities on the church hill began early in the morning when tractors, vans and cars arrived fully loaded with goods. Many had harvested, pickled, musted, baked, butchered, woven, made candles, picked flowers and tied wreaths, prepared marmalades and chili sauces and picked up tons of potatoes, pumpkins, root vegetables and vegetables.
Now it was time to spice things up with colorful and tasteful displays.
Several “Food Trucks” and restaurants set up their kitchens and offered hamburgers, spring rolls, soups, grilled herring, coffee with dip and much more. Delicious aromas spread over the church hill.
When the church bell struck 10, Sollerön's traditional "Harvest Festival" began!
Over the next few hours, a steady stream of cars arrived and were shown to available parking spaces by yellow-clad parking attendants. It worked perfectly.
The younger generation could get their faces painted, cuddle with goats and ducks, ride ponies and go horse and carriage riding.
Many fond reunions with happy laughter were heard in the throng of people. Social contact is important. It was noticeable that the expectations of the "bangers" and visitors were met. Everyone enjoyed themselves and were satisfied. Not least the organizers as customers noted that there was a record number of visitors. Again!
