Are there crayfish north of Dalälven?

The old saying that “crayfish, counts and oaks don’t go north of the Dalälven” is a fallacy. There were counts in Medelpad in the 17th century, there are oaks in Norrland, but their waistlines are narrower than down south. And there are crayfish north of the Dalälven!

Now in August, there is a fresh slurp in castles and huts. The refrigerators and freezers in Koopen are full of delicious shellfish from Vättern, Småland, Turkey, China and Louisiana. But you don't have to shop in Koopen to get crayfish. You can fish yourself in Siljan (if you have a fishing license/card). Solleröbladet has heard that large quantities were caught in Leksand last year and that there are abundant crayfish in the Orsälven below Mora Lasarett. They are probably found in several places.
