This year's coal mile lit in Siljansfors!

More than 50 people were "waiting by the mile" for the clock to strike 6pm on Friday evening.

Mora fiddlers were on site in the forest glade and offered folk music. Coal buns were served, of course, and a presentation was given on the historical importance of coal mines for iron production.

Inside the charcoal hut, the heat rose in the fire for the charcoal burners who, in 12-hour shifts, will ensure that the kite coals for the next 3 - 4 days. The kite was lit and the charcoal burners and the audience were pleased.

This year's mila is named Anki after the woman who runs the neighbouring restaurant.

Year 4 in schools in Mora and year 5 in schools in Orsa will have an outdoor day during the week and visit Siljansfors Forest Museum to see and learn more about what the forest means. This will of course include a visit to the mile.
